Design & Prototyping

From napkin sketch to functional prototype

Nox Print's Design and Prototyping division is an engineering service in Raleigh, North Carolina that converts product ideas into manufacturable CAD models, validates them with finite element analysis and motion simulation, and produces functional 3D printed prototypes — typically within days, not weeks.

CAD Design for Parts and Assemblies

We design individual components and complete multi-part assemblies in parametric CAD, so every dimension stays editable as your requirements evolve. Deliverables include native CAD files, STEP exports, and print-ready STL meshes. Every model is designed for manufacturing from the first sketch — wall thicknesses, tolerances, and fastener bosses are chosen for the process that will actually produce the part.

Finite Element Analysis and Simulation

Before a part is printed, we can validate it digitally. Finite element analysis (FEA) predicts stress concentrations, deflection, and failure points under real loads. Motion and fluid simulations verify mechanisms and flow paths. Simulation-first design means fewer physical iterations and a lower total prototyping cost.

Functional Prototyping

Prototypes are printed in-house on the same FDM and SLA machines that run our production work, in engineering materials like PETG, ASA, and TPU 95A. Because design and printing live under one roof, a design revision in the morning is usually a physical part by the next day.
